Canadian Veterans National Rendezvous

The Canadian Veteran's Advocacy is hosting a Rally and Poker Run to commemorate the end of the Canadian combat mission in Afghanistan, welcome Canadian Forces' members home and raise funds for a national Pennies for Veterans Campaign.

The Support the Troops Rally will be held on Saturday July 9th from 10am ? 10pm at the Gale Centre as a family, friendly event. Enjoy a day filled with great fun, musical entertainment, food and beverage vendors, marching bands, a motorcycle show and shine, a magnificent display of vintage military vehicles, and a host of other activities for all ages; including an Opening Ceremonies at 3:30pm and a Children's Area sure to keep the little ones entertained for hours.

You can also join us for what will surely be Niagara's largest Poker Run through breathtaking Niagara Region landscape beginning at Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake and ending at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls. The Run starts at 10am and ends at approximately 12:30pm. Registration is $25 (in advance) per rider or passenger, and $35 (day of), and includes an event t-shirt, cash prizes ($1,000 cash prize for top poker hand), and lunch with beverage, with a Show & Shine to follow.

The Mayor's Youth Committee will be selling seedling "White Pine" and "Burr Oak" trees on April 17th (between 8 am and 12 noon and 1pm to 4 pm) at the Sylvia Place Market square on Sylvia Place between Ferry St. and Peer.

Also.. At the MacBain Community Centre at 7150 Montrose Rd. on April 24th (between 10 am and 2 pm).

Seedling trees will sell for $3.50 each.

The tree sale is part of an ongoing effort to replenish and beautify Niagara's paths and streets.
